When I turn the computer on, the computer makes only beep noises.
Explanation: Each time you start the computer, the computer conducts a power-on self-test called POST. If the computer freezes or otherwise fails to boot, the CPU may be unable to communicate with some hardware components. The cause may be a faulty component, faulty installation or a problem with the BIOS. In any case, the series of beeps may sound an audio code to indicate what problem has occurred. Most PCs beep once at the successful completion of the POST, some beep twice.
Under certain circumstances, the screen may also display an error code.
Before asking for help from anyone, jot down both the number of beeps (and beep patterns) and the error code, if visible.
