When I turn the computer on, the computer sounds normal but the monitor screen is blank.

Explanation: The most frequent cause of this problem is simply a disconnected cord hooking the monitor to the computer. It may, however, also indicate a more serious problem, including damaged or misinstalled video card.

Under certain circumstances, the screen may also display an error code.

Before asking for help from anyone, jot down both the number of beeps (and beep patterns) and the error code, if visible.

Check:

  1. The connection from your computer to the monitor
  2. The monitor's power connection
